Happy Pre Day To You!

I have never really much of a "cell-phone" person. (I love to talk, but the whole brain cancer issue still worries me.) Although I have had monthly cell phone service since 1999, the phone plan, i.e. minutes and monthly cost (service became a huge issue the MCI/Worldcom debacle), was always the driving factor. I would usually receive a free new phone at the beginning of a contract or when the contract was renewed, so I've only paid for a phone once, and the cost was only $10 after the rebate.

A couple of years ago, I became more interested in the features such as the camera, music player, and texting capabilities. It was then when I took a good look at the Iphone...that was one BEAUTIFUL phone. But I had just signed a 2 year contract with T-mobile and had receive the pretty nifty Nokia Music Xpress.

However, within the last year, I have become super concerned about web/work capabilities away from my desktop Dell (which I lurve!). Since I had been working from home a lot and finishing my masters, I wasn't too keen on purchasing a laptop, but still needed access to email, the internet, and the ability to update my blog away from the house. With my contract nearing an end, I started googling Iphone to get as much info as possible and ran across something called the "Iphone Killer".

Fast forward, after months feigning for any bit of information on the Palm Pre, the day has arrived!!!!!

According to the Official Palm Blog: "Sprint has announced today that the Palm Pre will be available on June 6. Sprint announced that it will be available nationwide in Sprint stores, as well as at Best Buy, Radio Shack, and select Wal-Mart stores. The webOS-based phone will retail for $199.99 (after rebate and service agreement)."

Additionally: "When purchasing a Palm Pre you must add one of the following plans: Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan, which start out at $70. Also available on launch day are the Palm Touchstone and Touchstone back cover for $50 and $20, respectively. There’s a Touchstone Kit available for $70 that, you know, includes the dock and back cover."

YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! I am fully embracing my nerdy/techie side! However, to keep myself sane for three weeks until I can get my hands on the Pre, I'll have to resort to watching Pre videos, Sprint commercials, and reading blog posts by other frantic Pre fans.

If by chance, you have no idea why I am acting like a raving crackhead, check out the video to see what I have been smoking (and take a look at the Sprint site):
