Rihanna: "My selfish decision for love could result in some young girl's death."

I guess Rihanna has learned that moral responsibility does (or SHOULD) come with stardom.

Celebrities, or any other person for that matter, should not be held to a Jesus-standard of perfection. However, with the amount of fame, money, and special priviledges celebrities receive partially as a result of their talent and mostly as a result of their popularity with the public, these stars must/should consider the affect of their behavior on their fans.

While some believe her interview is mainly publicity for her upcoming cd, there is no doubt that she has dealt with the painful, and unfortunately, not uncommon issue of domestic violence and has come to realize that her actions could influence someone to return to a bad situation...and not come out of it alive. She is receiving more flack than Chris Brown did when he inteviewed with Larry King because she is more believable and frankly did a much better job (Who in the hell was managing him thru all this?)

Most people agree that one person hitting another person is wrong, and that it is not odd for two people in a relationship to make each other extremely angry and argue. What Rihanna spoke to is the heart of the matter: most of the time (about 85%) when there is a couple involved in a serious violent incident, the female is the one who is seriously injured, hospitalized, or killed. Regardless of who did what to get to that point.

Rihanna still loves Chris Brown. And it is not surprising that they reconciled numerous times. That being said, it is imperative for celebrities (and everyone else) to recognize people notice what they do and say. Like that unfortunate Diddy interview on Ellen. Sean was pushing the "don't rush to judgment argument" which I guess applies when it is convenient. That is the same arguement used by certain people when the police kill or beat the sh*t out of a black person.

There is one detail that is stuck in my head from this whole incident: the screaming. According to the police report, when Rihanna woke up after blacking out, she started screaming. She had to be disoriented and it is probably took few seconds for her to realize where she was and what happened. I wonder did her life flash before her eyes before she fainted. I wonder if she thought that she could have died had he been able to choke her a little longer. Yeah, screaming sounds about right.
